Gatherings
The Dig In

Dig Ins are seasonal gatherings held in Mother Yards. It's a work day where native plant gardeners organize to dig and transplant surplus native plants from mother gardens to their own gardens or other community projects. Dig ins help disperse native plants through local neighborhoods and the broader community. They are a great way to get new daughter yards started and an excellent opportunity for teaching beginners about working with native plants.
The Plant In

Plant Ins can be organized in the spring and fall of each year. They are work days/community celebrations held in new daughter yards. On these days, established local gardeners forage/gather surplus native plants and seeds from their gardens and bring them to the homes of new/beginning gardeners. The plants are then planted to establish a new daughter yard in the community. Plant Ins are another way to disperse native plants in our neighborhoods. They are also an excellent segue for establishing mentoring relationships with new native gardeners.
